A course on the use of ELAN software to create archival-quality transcripts of audio and video and transform ELAN materials into user-friendly presentation formats suitable for language learners and speakers, such as subtitled DVDs and web-based “clickable stories.” Developed and taught with Andrea L. Teaches speakers and learners of Tsuut'ina the technical skills necessary to archive their languages in a database or on the web with collections of text, sound, images, and video. Developed and taught as a customized course for Tsuut'ina speakers and learners as part of the Community Linguist Certificate Program at the Tsuu T'ina Nation, in collaboration with the Tsuut'ina Gunaha Institute and contributing Elders Carl Big Plume, Gerald Meguinis, Bernice Starlight, and Bruce Starlight. A course on recording language for community language resource development, long-term language documentation, and linguistic analysis. Provides hands-on experience in recording, transcribing, and editing audio and video of Canadian Indigenous languages.
